This Cyrus cylinder proclaims the King of Babylon
With the U.S. economy entering the double dip, the Eurozone crisis still unresolved and the BP oil spill still spilling, what’s a politician to do? How about launching a preemptive strike on Iran? Most Americans probably think of Iran as an Arab country. The Persians are a brave and wonderful people in a battle for democracy against a cruel and despotic dictatorship.
Iran suffers under a radical regime that perverts Islam through a chain of lies beginning with Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist declaration that “existence precedes essence.” This deception was relayed through the writings of Frantz Fanon later translated by Ali Shariati and finally co-opted by the Ayatollah Khomeini into radical islam which is not Islam at all. Abraham’s Judaism, Islam and Christianity agree that God creates each of us with a distinct purpose and speaking for myself I know it to be true. Sartre’s claim of “No Exit” is a lie when the door or forgiveness stands ready to be opened by everyone to anyone.

It was Cyrus The Great, founder of the Persian Empire and King of Babylon who brought peace, not war to the Babylonians and returned the exiled Jews and their possessions to their promised land. If you don’t believe that the King of Iran was the liberator of Israel, you can read it for yourself in 2 Chronicles 36, Ezra 6 and Isaiah 45. Cyrus set the captives free and he did it without price or reward as God commanded him.
Does Iran deserve to have a nuclear energy program if there is no guarantee that they will not develop a weapons program? Do they have the right to develop weapons as a deterrent? These are difficult questions which would lead to an arms race in the region and threaten the U.S. strategic ally Israel especially if the Iranian regime is not legitimate.
Do the people of Iran deserve to suffer under a brutal dictatorship which gained power through a stolen election? No. Is war the only answer? Throughout history war has been the answer to struggling economies and faltering political futures, both of which plague the U.S. today. Learn for yourself about the brave people of Iran.
Here’s a 2 minute video report from AlJazeera from last month including statements from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton responding to the Iranian President. Secretary Clinton said as a country we will be judged by our actions more than by our words: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBmAUngTRp8

Update: House Resolution 2194 which implements additional sanctions on Iran and its trading partners has nearly unanimously been passed and is awaiting President Obama’s signature. A few months ago, Congressman Ron Paul from Texas, one of only eleven in the house who voted against the resolution had this to say about the sanctions in a five minute video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIO-4v8qpYc&feature=player_embedded#!

Update: Webster Tarpley writes a very in-depth article claiming that President Obama is preparing to bomb Iran and gives specific dates for the plan. I am to vouch for or verify the accuracy of this report, but the depth of reporting and footnotes alone deserve a read if only for educational purposes: http://tarpley.net/2010/07/22/obama-preparing-to-bomb-iran/
